About us

' A Society for all '

The Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society known as RTWAS, has provided inspiration for artists and would-be artists in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding area since 1933.

The main object of the society is to promote an interest in the visual arts by providing facilities for those in Royal Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding area who have an interest in the arts.

Whether you are just starting out, returning after a long gap or are an established local artist, we aim to help artists discover and hone their individual style alongside other local artists.

The society is run by volunteers including an Executive Committee selected by members and a group of Trustees. To find out more about the RTWAS Committee members, Click here.

With our Gallery/Workshop on The Pantiles the Society is a centre for members, friends and visitors to meet and enjoy exhibitions, open days and other social events.

We organise activities such as weekly workshops, tutorials, practice sessions, professional criticism and exhibitions of work throughout the year for both society members and non-members.

There is a vast array of skills among our members whose work range from Traditional, Impressionistic, Abstract and Contemporary Art as well as Photography, Textiles, and Ceramics,  Through demonstration and experiment we explore classical techniques and modern trends.

RTWAS Members have the opportunity to exhibit their work at least 3 times a year at the society’s regular exhibitions which provides a chance for their work to expand and mature.
