Half Day Workshops covering a range of mediums take place at Sussex House daily in the mornings and afternoons. Following the success of our Monthly Saturday Workshops at Sussex House we are continuing to run these and provide below information for future Workshops.
These are open both to members and non-members.
MONDAY: 2PM – 4.30PM
Brushes and Biscuits or Watercolours for All
(Alternate Weeks)
Join us for our Brushes and Biscuits workshop, where we’ll be painting and having a blast! Get creative, unwind, and enjoy some delicious biscuits in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Alternate weeks John Hall leads our pm Watercolour sessions on similar lines.

Inspiration or Oil Painting
The Society runs a weekly Tuesday pm Inspiration sessions which consist of a monthly Professional Talk/Demonstration and weekly Oil Painting session sometimes facilitated. The Inspiration sessions may involve demonstrations by a variety of professional artists who cover a range of styles and subjects using materials and mediums including oils, watercolour, acrylic, pastels, graphite, pen and ink. Acrylic Adventures
Come along to our Acrylic Adventures workshop where you can express your creativity using acrylic paints. Learn different techniques, experiment with colours, and create beautiful acrylic artwork. Join us and explore the exciting world of acrylics.

Guided Development Workshop
Join us for an exciting journey of growth and discovery at our Guided Development Workshop. Gain valuable insights, refine your skills, and unlock your full potential.
We boast some very successful artists as well as gifted amateur and there is no level of would be artist who would be excluded or feel out of place in an atmosphere of mutual learning, help, sharing of ideas and materials and friendly socialisation.

This is an informal workshop where we explore different approaches for using acrylic paints and mixed media. Some sessions are guided with an initial slide show and demonstration. Topics are also discussed with the group as the term progresses. This is a supportive group who share ideas and give feedback to each other if required.

life drawing
Every 4th Friday of the month we hold our life drawing sessions, where you can refine your artistic skills and explore the human form. Our professional models create a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere, ensuring a productive and enriching experience.
Complete beginners are welcome and will need to bring a Drawing Board, Paper (as large as practical, A2) and a light folding easel is helpful, and Charcoal.

Saturday workshops
Whole day Saturday Workshops each month during the Autumn and Winter Terms, open to Members at £30 per day and non-members at £45 per day. Our next workshops are: 13th Sept. Expressive Landscapes in Oils or Acrylics with Gabriel Knollys, 4th Oct. Pumpkins, Fruits and Foliage in Oils or Acrylics with Sophie Cook and 8th Nov. Painting in the style of Monet (the ebauche method) in Acrylics with Alison Berry.
